Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.
{Robert Frost}
I vividly remember in high school when I first read this poem, and I often think of it when the seasons change...
Today was one of those days! Hall-lay-loo-ya, SPRING has arrived!
How can I tell?
1- Ryan called at the end of work today with the awkward "how do I get my wife to talk me into going golfing"
tone in his voice, and had an amazing opening to the golf season... (on hole 5 at Thanksgiving Point, he drove it 395 yards!
-and his gps gadget thing proves it, so its not like an exaggerated fish story :) Let's get this guy in a longest drive competition!)

2- our little patch of tulips {from when I planted them 2 years ago} has one last bunch that has survived,
and it's giant green leaves are gorgeous, just waiting for the bulbs to show themselves in full bloom... and I think they'll be yellow...
3- We went to the park, and the kiddles could finally take off their hoodies!
(jaac has an obsession with keeping his hoodie's hood on his head,
and it's cute and quirky, but if I EVER try to take it off, he has a fit and screams, "no mama, keep-a-hoodie-on!"
But when the warmth of the afternoon sun began to soak through our layers of winter clothing, we naturally wanted to feel
the sun on our arms, and the breeze through our hair (which in gracie's case is growing into a lovely mullet)
So imagine my excitement as I witnessed the little man as he unzipped his hoodie, then took his arms out of the sleeves,
{looking like a superhero with a hood instead of a cape} and then finally, as I watched with great anticipation,
but doing my best to look nonchalant, he took off the hood! With a simple "here mama," he handed it to me, and that was that.
Oh, how I hope to prove Mister Frost wrong when he states that nothing gold can stay...
for I am enjoying this time of nature's first green...
and I am blessed with all kinds of golden nuggets of joy...
and I want it ALL to stay!
